Session 103 | Breaking Through: The Construct of Leadership Starts with Individuals

Brad spent 36 years at Best Buy Company, retiring in 2009 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice Chairman. He began his career with Best Buy in 1973 as a commissioned salesperson for Sound of Music, the precursor to Best Buy. The core of his legacy at Best Buy is best exemplified in its evolution from a product-centered company to a customer-centric one where customer needs dictate what and how products are sold. Brad returned to the Best Buy board as a director, April 2013 – June 2016.

Brad provided leadership on a variety of corporate boards: Carlson Companies, General Mills, and Waste Management (board chair). In the past, was also active in the community on several nonprofit boards: Mayo Clinic & American Public Media. He currently is on the board of the Caux Round Table for Moral Capitalism and the board of the American Film Institute. He has also been a strong supporter of Job Creators Network since its founding and has done a number of media appearances on JCN’s behalf.

Janet Schijns is CEO and Co-Founder of JSG, a go to market acceleration firm dedicated to achieving results in the partner ecosystem. She serves on the Board of Directors for AvePoint, and Ninjio and regularly advises top technology firms on their go to market. She and her team delivered over $3B in funnel in 2022 for technology channel clients. Janet is a top 10 CEO Disruptor 2021, Top 10 Women in Technology 2020, 2021, 2022 (Analytics Insights), Top 50 Technology Influencers 2020, 2021 (Awards Magazine), Top 50 Channel Influencer (Channel Futures) 2022, and was named Channel Influencer of the year in 2019 beating out a slate of nominees from the top tech firms in the world, she has been in the top 5 influencers every year for the past decade. She was formerly EVP and CMSO at Office Depot and prior to that, she was the Chief Channel Executive, Chief Marketing Technologist and ran business products for Verizon. Additionally, Janet ran the channel organization for Motorola Enterprise and Government and is a noted and admired channel expert in the industry regularly appearing on the main stage at a variety of events.

Janet has spent the past two decades making a difference in our industry, as an executive and as a consultant and trusted advisor. She is dedicated to the advancement of Women in Technology, co-founding her not for profit "Tech World’s Half" in 2017 to address the issue of women dropping out of technology and WomWon in 2021 to help women establish financial independence. She has coached, mentored, and counseled hundreds of Women in the industry to success and is regularly called upon to speak about empowering and advancing Women in the technology industry.

Joy Wilder Lybeer is a passionate and insightful leader who brings three decades of strategic and operational experience to the table. In her most recent role, she served as Equifax U.S. Information Solutions (USIS) Chief Revenue Officer and senior vice president of global partnerships.

In this role, Ms. Wilder Lybeer built on her proven track record of driving sustainable business growth with a focus on accelerating all non-mortgage revenue for Equifax. She held revenue and customer responsibility across the Automotive, Financial Services, Fintech, Communications, Utilities, Insurance, and public sector functions. Ms. Wilder Lybeer also led the Global Alliances and Channel Partnerships function, Inside Enterprise Sales and new business development.

Ms. Wilder Lybeer built a high-performing team whose award-winning alliance management competencies are recognized as superior by the industry. She is considered a “partnering expert” who collaborates with third parties to drive foundational, incremental and transformational opportunities, extending reach and creating profitable innovation for the marketplace.

Ms. Wilder Lybeer has held several senior leadership positions within Equifax, having previously served as the senior vice president of Global Partnerships and Channel Distribution as well as the leader of the Equifax Financial Services Group. Joy participated in the distinguished Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2023, and was the recipient of the 2023 Silver Stevie Award for Top Business Executive of the Year.

Before joining Equifax in March, 2009, Ms. Wilder Lybeer served as executive vice president and head of Retail Branch Banking for SunTrust Bank (now Truist Financial Corp.) with oversight responsibility for 1,700 locations and 12,000 associates. She also served on the Company’s Executive Management Committee as SunTrust’s Chief Strategy Officer.
